When you read the description of the monster Leviathan in
Job chapter 41, he sounds amazingly like a fire breathing dragon. The Amplified
Bible calls him a crocodile. But how many crocodiles have you ever seen that
meet this description? 41:18 says “By his neesings a light doth shine and his
eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.” Verse 19 - “Out of his mouth go
burning lamps and sparks of fire leap out.” Verse 26 – “Out of his nostrils
goes smoke, as a seething pot or cauldron.”
Verse 21 – “His breath kindleth coals and a flame goeth out of his
mouth.”
He is such an amazing creature that God devotes an entire
chapter to his description.
Job was written in the time of the patriarchs. He may have
known Jacob. It was written before Exodus. Eliphaz one of Jobs friends who came
to comfort him was descended from Esau. Scripture says he was Esau’s eldest
son. Gen. 36:10
Job was from the land
of Uz. Uz was the
grandson of Shem and great grandson of Noah.
The Chinese always had dragon stories in their folklore. I
have found there usually is a bit of truth in legends. So maybe they actually
did exist.
